Alfa Romeo's new line up

Autoexpress have published information on a leaked Alfa Romeo product plan detailing five new models. They include the 4c, two saloons, an SUV and a replacement Spider. The 4C sports car will lead as the halo car and is going to be faster than first thought, receiving the new 1.8-litre turbocharged petrol engine with 300bhp and TCT dual-clutch gearbox to match the Porsche Cayman for performance. They go on to state 20,000 4Cs will be made over a five years from 2013 at around £40,000.

Crucially the 4c will spearhead Alfa Romeo’s return to North America utilising Fiat Group’s alliance with Chrysler and Jeep. The line-up now follows:-

 Based on the Jeep’s Grand Cherokee platform Alfa Romeo will resurrect the Kamal they were flirting with in 2003 revised for release early 2013. The engine line up will initially feature a 238bhp 3.0-litre V6 diesel but will be Alfa-ized to add sporty handling in keeping with the brand. It will be built in the USA and cost around £45,000.

They are set to replace the 159 in early 2014 to better rival the BMW 3 Series and Audi A4. Engines will feature Fiat’s MultiAir technology from 118bhp 1.4litre to the new 300bhp 1.8-litre turbo petrol alongside 110bhp to 200bhp diesels.

Will arrive in 2014 with increased emphasis on style, handling and a much improved power to weight ratio. Expect to see lightweight aluminium and carbon used in its construction from lessons learned from the 4c. Engine likely to include 168bhp 1.4-litre turbo and 200bhp 1.75-litre turbo from the Giulietta Cloverleaf.

Chrysler 300C based flagship will arrive at the end of 2014. It will also use the Chrysler’s 3.6-litre V6 petrol and a V6 diesel engines. Aimed at the BMW 5 Series it will be able to compete better as it will feature with rear wheel drive and come with an eight-speed automatic transmission. emphasis again on style, comfort and fun.
