Geneva 4c

To much fanfare Alfa Romeo has stunned Geneva with the Alfa Romeo 4c concept and has stated it will make production with a target date in late 2012.

The car is more compact than one would have initially imagined measuring just 4000mm long (similar to the Mito). Obviously a key element to meet the 850kg targeted weight, along with the carbon fibre construction.

Styling is stunning with frontal elements of the 8c and the corporate nose blended into stylised curves at the side and a haunched rear, all clearly emphasising the sporting intention.  Colour is a strange choice – a matte red which unfortunately shows as pink on many photos.

Power is from the 1750TBi running in excess of 200bhp to ensure a 0-62mph time ably assisted by a twin clutch transmission recently launched into the Mito and Giulietta.

From the initial promise of €40,000 the talk of price has gone quiet. A carbon fibre car at this price would be a challenge to Dallara.
